Lookin' for a Win M-70 Nat'l Match in 7.62 NATO.

Howdy:

I am getting back to the High Power competiton.  I recollect there were still M-70 NM's built in about 1980 & before.  But when did Winchester quit making them?

Whatcha think the chances are of finding one?  I would only want one in .308 Win.  No .30-06.  I suppose I would be happy with a Rem 40-X repeater.  But I priced them from the Rem Custom Shop & an still in sticker shock!

Mustang Gregg,

Slim & None and Slim just left.  I shoot high power also, but service rifle.  If I was you I would purchase a used Remington 700 short action and send it to Kreiger Barrel and have them rebarrel and blue print the action and bolt.  I had this done for my son who is in the Army and the breakdown is something like this.

1.  Purchase a used 1964 Remington 700:               339.00
2.  Kreiger heavy 308 match barrel &
blueprint action and bolt (It was gone
     for about 8 weeks.                                           650.00
3.  Gander Mountain Rebluing (Matt)                       125.00
4.  Trigger job on existing trigger (2.5lbs.)                35.00
5.  H&S Tactical Stock (adjustable cheek &
     length.                                                            496.00

Well their in the scope base/rings/scope, well you get the picture.  Welcome to Camp Perry.  My match M1A is worth 2,100.00.  With the above Remington 700 match out it will shoot better then you can shoot it unless you are a high master.

Regards,
