Range report on Tikka T3 Lite .270 w/ Weaver GS 4.75X
« on: December 27, 2003, 11:28:57 AM »
I shot my new Tikka T3 Lite today.  It is chambered in .270 Win, and I mounted a new Weaver Grand Slam 4.75X scope on it.  First group, after sighters, was 130 gr Hornady Spire point over H4831SC.  Three shot group = .750" ..... This load shoots about the same in my pre 64 Win M70.  The next load was Nosler 140gr Ballistic Tip over RL22.  Four shot group = .875" ....Note that I charged these cases using a lee dipper.........

Rifle handles great, very smooth and no hitches.

Weather was 30 deg F, wind quartering into my face around 10 mph.
Regards,

Tom

Tom,

I'm glad to hear the good report, my dad bought that same rifle in 30-06, he hasnt been able to shoot it yet.

How do you like that Weaver Grandslam?  I have one of the 3-10x40 and really love it!  I really feel like they are great scopes but not too many people talk about them.

The scope seems fine.  I liked it well enough to buy another one.  I don't care for the variable grand slams, as I think the power adjusting ring is way too large, but this fixed power scope is very nice........

I have a weaver grand slam 3x10x40 on a t-3 243 ss lite. I think the scope is one of the best out there in it's price range. I personally like the large power adjusting ring--- easy to adjust  on stand when a coyote hangs up way out there, even when the gun's on shooting sticks. It's clearer and sharper than all my leupolds vii.

The t-3 is the most accurate rifle I have. Shoots sub m.o.a. with most any load I feed it.

Yes, as long there is bolt handle clearance, than the power ring size is not an issue.

I have the aforementioned T3 and also a Tikka M595 22-250 Varmint rifle that is very nice.  Both are as accurate than anything else in my safe, without nearly as much work.  They certainly have a very nice feel to them.
Regards,

Tom
