AIM has Tokarev M57's
« on: April 15, 2011, 11:32:58 AM »
Just a heads up  (as I'm on their mailing list and haven't seen anything come in): AIM is doing preorders on a shipment of Yugo Tokarev M57's.  Might not interest anyone as AIM appears to be a bit late to the game on these (I've already got one from Wideners), but I figured I'd mention it.

If you haven't got one already, they really do seem like good guns.  Took me a LOT of cleaning to get the cosmoline out of mine, but after it's out the gun is a great deal.  Very solid and tight feeling gun.  It looks just a tad "quirky" (I think it's the rounded rear portion and the oddly shaped hammer), but it feels good in the hand and is reliable.  Well worth $189 IMHO.

Looks like I was a bit premature on the mailing list thing.  Got an email about these a few  hours after posting :).

I got mine yesterday via UPS. 98% pistol and all matching numbers. Cooked her clean of all the cosmo, and lubed it up good everywhere with Rem-oil and we are ready to go!

Another Awesome pistol from AIM. I should have ordered 2..(famous last words..)

I have a romanin Tok which i use as my carry piece.  first thing i did was spend 2 hours getting all the cosmoline out.  Finally had to leave it out in the sun for an hour or so sitting on a pile of rags (let mother nature soften it up).  Second thing i did was to Duracoat it a dessert tan, came out pretty nice.  Couple of things that i've noted; it's a long slide pistol, so i find it a little uncomfotable sometimes to carry up front, especially while driving.  Also, the grip is, for me, a little short.  I'm a pretty big guy though, with pretty big hands and i find that i have to shoot it with my pinkie curled under the bottom of the grip.  Also, if you decide to reload for this gun, make sure you buy a metal detector to find the brass  :).  It flings the spent shells a good 25ft.  Aside from that, i find the tok to be a great shooting and reasonably accurate pistol, and a great deal to boot!!  Have fun with whatever you choose!
