Trapping Tip. Using Aerial Maps Online...
« on: April 05, 2011, 10:16:33 AM »
Using aerial maps online through various web sites has proved to be a helpful tool for me not only in the past, but once again today.

After doing aerial map surveys of various locations near where I live last week, I searched for the land owners/farmers who own these properties. I just made a few phone calls and after speaking with two land owners, my son & I just got permission to trap 7 new ponds & wetland areas.

The last landowner that I had spoke with said that he'd like to meet me and ask me a number of questions before he grants me permission. I told him that I'll bring my gear and show him what I wish to do. He explained to me that he had some problems with others who were discharging firearms for which they shouldnt have been and the landowner got his ass in hot water due to this location. Frankly, I cant blame him for wanting to talk with me first before he grants me the honor of going onto his land! I hope things work out, not only in my favor but his as well!

This tip works for me and I know it can work for you. You just need to do your homework!

Frank,
I use Google Earth, Bing, & Mapquest. I use to use Terra when they didnt charge for their downloads. Topo maps work very well when you use them in conjunction with aerial maps as well!!!
