second barrel doesn't set after first barrel fires on o/u shotgun

I have a beretta silver pigeon II 20 gauge. I've have shot skeet with it for over 7 years without a problem. Last time out after shooting the bottom barrel the top barrel will not set for the second shot. When I shake the gun sounds like something is rattling in the receiver. Does anyone know what it could be? Is the repair expensive?

I'm not familiar with that gun but it sounds like the inertial weight which moves when the gun is fired to connect the trigger with the sear for the second barrel is loose? I've not seen this happen before as usually it's crud keeping the weight from moving freely that gums up the works.. Does the gun work with the initial shot fired from the top barrel?  Before going too far I'd contact  Berreta service department and see what they suggest.. It may be even covered under their warrantee.. Good luck and keep us updated..
