Wishin I had tried pump rifles 30 years ago...

My Model Six is spoiling me rotten. Took her out today with some reloads. A 170 Rem RNSPCL over 46 gr IMR 4064 in neck sized ( Lee Loader) Federal cases, CCI 200 primers OAL 3.19 velocity ( chrono'd) 2380 fps. Her best group, 3 at 100 was 3/4 inch and the worst ( !) 1 1/8 th inch. These Federal cases are holding up very well, they're on their 10th firing, and neck sizing cases gives no problems at all. A very nice surprise it is! NOT what I was lead to expect. You know the drill, full length size, small base dies etc... She hardly copper fouls at all and is boringly reliable. I like anything that goes bang, but I dont know why I never gave a pump gun any thought at all. Better late than never I guess.

I never gave them a thought either until 3 years ago when I bought a 7600 carbine. It is one of the best shooting rifles I own. I really like how it points and carries too.

I love my little 572 Fieldmaster.  I want a 760 or a 7600.

I inherited my older brothers remington pump 30-06 rifle and i never shot it yet.  I guess after reading all the hype about the 06 pump here i'm going to try it.  I gave it to my oldest son who was my brothers buddy but he will let me shoot it i'm sure just to try it out. I never gave the 06 pump that much thought.

i love the rem pumps.  the only model i don't have is the model 6.  i lean more towards the carbines and if you want a slick, fast handling gun, get a mid-60's 760 carbine in '06.  the triggers are usually a bit stiff, especially the 7600's, so i usually get a trigger job done on them and then they are ready to roll.  my last purchase was a 7600 factory carbine in 35 whelen.  got the deluxe trigger job from accuracy systems intl and put a bushnell 3200 2-7x32 on tally low mounts.   it will be my go-to gun for the rest of my days. 

i got my pump leanings from my dad and grandad.  they used model 14's and 141's in 35.    check those out sometime if you want to really see some workmanship.

the first centerfire i bought was a 1960 760 in 270 with one of my first paychecks in the military.  still have it and it has many, many brothers alongside of it in the safe these days.
