Deal or no deal?
« on: March 25, 2011, 06:17:36 PM »
I found a used 44 mag super blackhawk with 6" barrel which is the barrel length I have been looking for. It has 100% of the blueing left and just a slight drag mark around the cylinder. Overall in very good shape. I can get it for $475 out the door. Deal or no deal?

Thanks, Charlie

Too high...  How much do NIB ones go in your neck of the woods?

Has the barrel been cut down?  I don't recall a 6 inch being offered, unless it was a special run.  $475 is a little high, but if it is what you have been looking for, and you like it, I wouldn't worry over $25 / $50

It is a special run 6" barrel. The best deal I can get for a Blackhawk out the door around here is $536 or so and I can only find new ones in the regular Blackhawk in 5 1/2 and 7 1/2 barrels. I'm kind of set on the SBH and the 6" barrel and the SBH model due to the few extra ounces in weight. Thanks, Charlie

If it's what you've been looking for I say go for it.   You may never find another 6" for less or in as good of shape and if you settle for a different barrel length you will always be asking yourself if you should have jumped on that 6" back when?   It's only money and as they say you can't take it with you.

After I asked the question I discovered that this is an after factory gunsmith job. I'm going to pass at this price. Unless the guy knocks quite a bit off and maybe even then. Thanks for the replies. Charlie
