I finally got my hands on a ruger super blackhawk in 44mag with a 10 1/2'' barrel.  Its in near new condition without a mark on it.  its been shot but its still tight like new.  Its in blue and i paid $349 for it.  I always wanted one of these long barreled cannons to hunt with.   Does anyone have one too??   Thoughts???

At the sametime my dealer also had sitting next to the super black a ruger vaquero in 45 long colt in polished stainless, w/ 7 1/2'' barrel.  This one was gleaming at me to buy it too.  It was priced at $329 and in new condition too.  It came with the orginal box plus the shipping box too. I don't think they offer the 7 1/2'' barrel anymore.  Thoughts??           CZY

I like the longer bbls, but not big on the all-to-common .44 mag.  Make it in .41 or .357 and I'd go for one.   8)

The Vaquero...pretty good price.  However, if ya gotta second guess the purchase, maybe there's a reason. ;)

I been trying to figure out why the 7 1/2'' barreled vaquero was priced so low since the 7 1/2'' barrel is discontinued.  I couldn't pass these two up at these affordable prices anyway.

Those are real good prices.  You were actually forced to buy them.  ;D

10 1/2" SBH....Just the right size for one those scabbards with shoulder straps on them like a backpack.

Misconception many have is that a model being discontinued equates to them having a higher value.  In production or not, it's still all based on supply and demand.

Is that a Vaquero, or new Vaquero?  If it is a Vaquero, I would be running down there to pick it up!

i have both guns in stainless. the 44 mag i down load to 44 special shoots better not so much  thump i used to shoot off the hood of my old truck till i got home and noticed all the little dents in the hood when the 44 mag came out there were a lot people that bought them but didn't like the recoil hard on your finger.i have bought several from pawn shops that are like new and tight.the 45 vaquero's are sweet. if you don't reload they are ex pensive  to shoot.i also cast my own bullets 240 grain 44 mag 250 grain 45 both lee molds. i don't shoot them as much as i should i have plenty of time.enjoy your rugers.

I've got a three screw Super Blackhawk.  Most out of the box accurate handgun I have ever shot.  Also has THE
best trigger right out of the box.  It is scary accurate with my cast 429421 252gr plain base bullet with WW296
powder.  My groundhog load is a swaged lead 240gr Speer bullet and Red Dot powder for 868fps.  One summer with that swaged lead bullet load I shot twelve straight groundhogs and then missed the 13th one!  One summer our neighbor lady called me to help with her groundhog problem.  Seems they were living under her chicken coop.
I went over with the Super Blackhawk with the above 868fps load.  We crept out to the chicken coop and there  were four
of the buggers out in the grass.  I shot three before they made it under the chicken coop but the fourth one made it under the coop.  That was some fast and furious single action shooting and it surprised our neighbor lady.
Everytime they became a bother to her she would give me a call.

I have had 3 . used them to shoot IMHSA . 2 were SS one was blue . The blue one was the most accurate. That said they all shot good the blue one won the NC state big bore revolver champship in june of 92. They were not expecting a guy from out of state to win and played politics . They gave the winning plack to the highest in state shooter and later sent me one that said out of state winner that had to be made after the fact. Sore loosers I guess.
The gun is a great shooter you should have good luck with it. As for tight - when I shot my load was over max , it was clocked well over 1700 . When I shot it after 10 shots the 5 screws that held the gun togather had to be tightened. after a few 40 or 60 rornd matches they needed replacing . The ejector rod housing screw broke off under severe recoil and was replaced a time or two then a stud was sodered in place . I had put thousands of rounds thru the gun and a guy I worked with bought it . It is still tight if normal loads are used. Tuff guns .
as for accuracy we shot them out to 500 yards with good effect.
If ya can see it ya can hit it !
