Is Glock still making guns?
« on: March 12, 2011, 08:42:36 AM »
What's up with Glock?  A friend asked me to order a gen 4 Glock 19 for him. No problem thinks I. But then I checked three of my distributors and nada! Jerry's Sports list several dozen in their paper catalog but not a single one on their website. I then checked Zanders Sporting Goods. They list some 40+ models but only two models in stock.  Chattanooga likewise listed a bunch of models but only one in stock. Why is the most popular make of semi auto handgun not to be had?

Right now, Glock Model 19's are selling as fast as they hit the shelves.  To my knowledge this has been going on since, at least, the end of January 2011.  Opinions vary as to the reason, 'Why?'

In a published newspaper article, the owner of a large Glock distributorship is quoted as saying words to the effect, 'I expected this.'  (I don't know?  Perhaps he's less ingenuous than I am, or maybe psychic!)

The same thing has been happening with many ultra high capacity Glock pistol magazines; but this one seems to be easier to figure out.  Recent sales of 33 round magazines are, probably, being driven by fear of an impending congressional ban.  Personally, I doubt it; and I expect the current hysteria to pass.

Supply cannot keep up with demand.
I was told that they are running approx.
100,000 units behind. they apparently picked
up another military contract from some
south American country too. So yes,
they're still making lots of them
