very foolish in my opinion, to let a osmall housedog into a coyote circle with the coyote in it.

you got lucky.

first coyote we ever collared- we had to grab the scruff of the neck, to get the coyote to lift his head so we could put the snare pole on it. Very unaggressive coyote-

the exception, rather than the rule.

:o :o lucky dog    the lil one... it only takes a second for the yote to change its mind. but if that is a armored vest it is still a risk i would not take with a dog i loved.. i would not make this a habbit i just dont see it ending well.

some are indeed docile-

but I don't do that with most-

coyote actions vary- I have as many that never settle down, as do.

but the point is be very careful letting that dog in the circle- one bite on the head, and its dead.  and I'm not saying that to bust your chops- just warning you- never trust them

but you seem to miss my original point on dispatch- I can kill them with a pistol- but over a day, one is going to be spining up close, and i'm going to nick him (for those that kill 100% every shot with a pistol, and I know you are out there, thats great, I'm not that good a pistol shot on a moving coyote) and if I nick him by te time its down the set is a mess.  with a rifle, at a distance, its 100% down like a    poleax- the blood is contained.

no right or wrong- just how i do it.
