feeding problem with Browning .22 magnum pump
« on: March 08, 2011, 01:58:28 PM »
I'm having a problem with chambering rounds in a Browning .22 magnum pump.  About three or four out of ten will not line up or fail to chamber.  Has anyone had this problem ?

Thanks,

Greg

Delivered it to a gunsmith today (03/10/11) he advised that Browning had problems with this model.  He stated that he would polish the parts responsible for feeding etc. ????

Well I picked up my Browning pump and the gunsmith advised he could not make it jam. He thought that I was not pumping it hard enough.  The older I get the more I hear this complaint.   :o

Are you using 40 grain bullets?
When that little pump rifle was built the 35 and under grain bullets were not around.
My have to do with the weight of the bullet.
If you are not using 40 grain bullets try them first.
Then get a book on dissassembly and clean the whole thing.
Could also be oil goo, that has built up over the years.

I'm using 40 grain FMJ.  The gunsmith took it apart and checked the specs, cleaned and lubed it.
He fired several rounds of the ammo I provided and said he COULD NOT make it jam.  I believe the rifle has less than  200-300 rounds through it, total.

Had a few more problems with the first ammo I tried, CCI 40 grain hollow points and fmj but switched over to Winchester super x 40 grain, no more problems, shoots great, 100 rounds, feeds right every time .   ;D
