Matching stain for older pallet wood stocks?

Anybody ever come up with a matching stain that one can buy at a hardware store that matches the old dark pallet wood stocks? Have done some minor work on a forend and need to cover it up without refinishing the whole stock set. Thanks.

No experience with the specific wood, but I have had great results is my stockmaking and repairing with the antique walnut stain from Brownells.  Need a dab of experimentation, but dilute with denatured alcohol, amount is variable, and apply with a rag.  You might want to wear latex gloves unless you like brown fingers.  Another idea I've used is La. style coffee straight from the pot--gives a nice brown color.  Here endeth the lesson.  Goatwhiskers the Elder

You can test color under the buttplate or in the barrel channel if you get down to bare wood. Use a swab to stroke on a color stripe and try different combinations.
I like to use leather stains, better selection of colors and I can 'layer' them to get the tone I want.
Also they are alcohol based rather than water based and give me better penetration and depth of color (I usually dont dilute). Most often I use a 'walnut' kind of brown with a red 'ox blood' or such.
Plain walnut staining on lesser wood is boring to me and needs the red tones, but that was typical of the best grade English guns and Winchester too.

Here's on I just redone and reshaped.Used a light walnut stain.Let it dry and then put a ebony on it.I let the ebony set for a few minutes then wiped it off.Three coats of gloss ply and here it is.The light streak is just that.Reflection from a light.
