BEAVER ANYONE?
« on: March 04, 2011, 12:15:58 AM »
Nothing beats trapping spring beaver,it is the one time of year I can concentrate on one animal. It is also the only time I can get away with wearing hip boots(for the most part). The only question is--will spring come in time?
How many of you guys are still trapping beaver(those south of the tundra)? Or are planning on running spring lines?

In northern Illinois we're allowed to run only beaver traps until 12:00am of April 1st.

Yes, Been trapping beaver since the first day the ice went out. The thing I like about trapping beaver this time of year is that no one is on the river trapping them.

With most fur well past prime, the beaver are looking their best right now.

They shortened our season this year, instead of mid may(where it has been for many years) it now closes the end of april. Now many of you may have questions on may beaver, but in many parts of northern mn., ice out is very late. This year flooding will be an extreme problem.
