Remington Model 700?

MY father gave me this rifle he said he bought it when he was younger . I want to know what year it was made and i couldnt find it in the remington book eaither i went through all 700 pages lol litterally. my reciever numbers start with 297xxx I know its a older model it has a raised cheekpiece on it he says it is a bdl 7mm mag . but i know the barrel was changed it says on the left side 9DP with the number 14 next to it? any help please It is in good condition what is it worth ? any help would be nice . this is my first post on here . :) I probebly didnt get this in the right spot

dont know the date of birth or if its original or not but a 7mag bdl in good condition is worth at least 400 bucks up here and probably closer to 500. Great gun in a great caliber. I have the same gun myself.

  Since you have the serial number call remington and they will be happy to tell you what year your rifle was made.  They have great service and you shouldnt be on hold for very long if at all so have the SN ready.

Did you check the barrel date codes with the sticky at the top of this section?  You should find your answer there.

The gun was made in 1968. and remington said if the gun is in good condition it is worth some good money. but i think iam gonna hold on to it and hand it down to my son as my father did with me  :)

Some of the 7mags at the time had stainless barrels, if its showing some wear at the crown try some cold bluing, if it dont take its stainless, they do bring a premium.     ed
