1996 production frame ?
« on: February 18, 2011, 06:03:16 PM »
I have a 45-70 with a nk frame. What I would like to do is fit a few rifle barrels to this frame. I know H&R will not do it because the frames where outsourced for a few yrs. Is it safe for me to fit a 7mm08/3006 barrels to this frame?

While on this subject, sort of...I have two NH receivers. One started life as a 22 Hornet and I know H&R will not fit high pressure barrels to it because I asked. The other started life as a 243 (or 45/70 -  they both match serial #). Go figure. Not complaining at all. Especially since I found this wonderful web site where you can buy modern receivers and barrels and put your dream guns together (keeping safety in mind).

Gardner wouldn't fit * marked high pressure accessory barrels to any SB2 frame made before 1999, after Remington bought H&R in 2008, they moved that cutoff to 2000 and later and will only fit shotgun, 357 and 44 mag accessory barrels to the '96-'99 frames.
