Nice gun!  If you look around in this forum you'll find a thread by me where we did three balls in the 20 gauge.  It's a lot of fun and you sure get the looks at the range!  People think it's a .600 Nitro.

I wonder if you can find a big deep lake/sea 'sinker' mould that will make balls that size. (no, not the ones with the holes in the middle  )

Shu,     I have used that sight in process before. Works great with my hard thumpin' M/L and a 500S&W Handi.

I do the initial bore sight at home down the hallway with a orange dot on the wall and the weapon or just the bbl and scope/sight rested in the "V" notch cut in a cardboard box. Then at the range do as you stated with the help of a buddy or volunteer. I just get them to turn the scope dials while I control the gun. You still have to shoot a couple of shots to varify, but saves ammo and your shoulder.

Seeing that this is a single shot,I can expierament with the slugs used. I have found empty 10ga hulls(new) and a small "kit" type loader that will (slowly)accomplish the desired result. Now to round up wads,shot cups,etc. to put under the slug and to close the hulls. As stated,I am tooled up to reload 12 and 20ga(MEC Sizemaster)so am familiar with the process. Even have a book that talks about reloading the 10ga,just not about slugs.

This is a fun gun. I origionally had the thought that this would be more of an expierament than anything else. I will continue down this path,but hopefully will get to the point that I can actually hunt some of the bigger boar hogs with it.

Sounds like he was talking about the lee loader. You basically get a die and need a small mallet. Loading is slow but you can knock out a bunch on a cold winters evening.

Slow, and 'old school'; just the thing for projects such as this.
If you cant find one a friend with a lathe can make the various pieces.

That`s what I thought he might be referring too! I have them in a large assortment of rifle and pistol set`s.
Just don`t have them in shotgun sets. Also can order a hand reloading setup from Rocky Mountain Cartridge Co. for the 10 gauge and other gauges. This setup is for reloading the all brass shells. MagTec makes all brass shells in various gauges except for 10 gauge. As mentioned in an early post on this subject , Rocky Mountain makes all brass shell cases for the 10 gauge along with other gauges.

i know this thread is few months old but i just seen it . there is a guy named pcammo on the predator master forums he is a 10 ga genius. he use to sell a load a 550 gr round ball @ 2000 fps in the 10 ga made about 4,008 lb fts of energy . think he is like the nitro ray guy who makes his own load data with a pressure gun etc . i havnt shot my ole 10 ga in 3 months been playing with my 44 alot but i just got a job so i plan on buying some shells and maybe some nwcp buckshot 10 ga to play with . i also went the the trulok choke place in whigim few miles from here and got some chokes talked to trulok to .also plan on getting a gold lite 10 ga down the the road after i get my bps 10 out of layaway .

I think you could pretty easily make up some single ball loads using .735 dia. balls in std. wad.  Some available here:

Interesting project.  Can you get a cheek weld with optics on a Handi.  I was handling a thumbhole stock and noticed that when I was on the comb that the natural line of sight was into the base of the hammer.  But the MC stocks are higher.  I'd like to get a laminate stock but if I can't get a cheek weld without building it up, I may as well get a regular stock.

Cannon ball mold A-1190  has one that forms a 7/8" which would be really close also:

Just omit the brass eyelet and then cut off the extra sprue.

There is a guy on another forum that rechambers the NEF 10ga to 8ga. That interests me however it is illegal to hunt with them.

Cannot use it for hunting water fowl but still legal for big game.
