« on: February 02, 2011, 12:01:12 PM »
Dear Sirs and Ma'ams,
I picked up on a post here that the new Rossi (Wizard, though there are others) 22LR barrels can be fitted to the SB1/2 frames!
Can I request more, that is any and all, info on that please.
i would love a 22 rimfire barrel (for my kids, of course1) (wink)

Is there a trick, or any special considerations, or tips&tricks to fitting the Rossi rimfire barrel to the Handi rifle receiver?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience.

Rossi uses two different receiver sizes that I know of.  The one that compares in size to our SB1 or SB2, and a smaller one.  I bought my grandchildren a combo Rossi 410-22, and the receiver is MUCH smaller, and I would not think there would be any chance of using one of those barrels.  If I thought there were, I would buy another combo, as it can be had for about  $120.00 with both barrels.

Perhaps they make a larger one?  Beats me, but be careful as you order.  It would have to have an offset bore I'm thinking, as the Versa barrel for the HR is.

You cannot fit any of the regular Rossi barrels to an H&R frame, the underlug on the Rossi is too short by a lot.  You can fit the newer Rossi Wizard barrels to a H&R frame as Quick has demonstrated.  This would not be cost effective however with a 22 Barrel because Rossi makes a combo rifle/shotgun in both 22lr/410 and 22lr/20 gauge which they sell regularly for between $99.00 and $120.00 for the whole gun with two barrels.  The Rossi Wizard barrel will set you back about $160 delivered, and I don't think they offer a Wizard barrel in a RF cal.  Larry

Sorry  -- I should have checked out what I post first......The off set 22 LR Rossi is to small of a lug for a Handi......... the Rossi  410 /22 is the one I saw --- and the off set   rimfire barrel is a nice idea by Rossi... But I should not have posted untill I saw the gun again  and checked it out    Sorry                 Dan

It is still cheaper to buy an entire Rossi rifle with two barrels than it is to get one H&R barrel only.  The 22/410 Rossi only weighs about 4 1/2 pounds, they are nice tiny little guns, I have one that I reamed the 22 lr to 22 Mag and stubbed a 22 Hornet into the 410 barrel.  Larry

Rossi does offer 22Lr barrels for the Wizard, but for the same $141 you can get a Sportster rifle, or as Larry suggested, the Rossi combo.

Well, sure its not cost effective.  But it is a way to have that 22LR barrel on a handi.
So I am just wondering if fitting the Wizard bbl (part no Wb22-23, http://www.rossiusa.com/2010catalog/?catalog_page=31   ) can be done; and any special considerations to keep in mind when doing so.
That's all.

I like versatility and options. and tinkering around. and guns.  and... :)

  Trotter;

   Has the bore diameter difference caused any problems, being as there is 1/1000ths difference ? http://www.chuckhawks.com/rifle_bullet_diameter.htm

   Is the action taking the pressure OK ?
