Grip bolt and forend screws . . . where do you get 'em?
« on: December 18, 2003, 07:10:44 AM »
I've ordered my pistol barrel and the new laminated grip and forend just showed up today.  Only problem is, the grip bolt and forend screws aren't included with the laminated wood.  I need a source.  Thanks in advance for your help.

Encore or Contender? I got my Contender bolts at Lowe's or Home Depot. The forend ones are #10-32 stainless. From what I've read on here, the Encore ones are harder to come by.
If you can earn it, why did He have to die?

Sorry about that, it's the Encore stuff I'm looking for.

The Encore grip screw you can buy at most GOOD hardware stores that carry individual screws in bins.  The forend screws are 8-40 threads and you have to order them from TC or a specialty house like EABCO.  I have been trying to buy a 8-40 die from anywhere, but I haven't seen them sold except in a set that was 79.95.  I will find it soon, though.

Hey Possum.

For the die your looking for try a company called McMaster-Carr located in Los Angeles California.  They carry just about everything dealing with tools & hardware.  If you work in the manufacturing sector and can get your purchasing agent to get you a copy of their catalog or you might try searching on-line for their web page.

I ordered the grip and forend from eabco.com.  On the website it says that grip bolt and forend screws are not included but available separately for about $6.00.  However, their printed catalog states that the grip bolt and forend screws ARE included.

I called them today and explained that I hadn't received the bolt and screws with my purchase.  The lady on the phone took my name and address and said that she would ship me out a set.  She explained that the website was right and the catalog was wrong.  Wasn't supposed to say that they were included.  At least they're "making it right" with me.  I've ordered from them before and I think they've just kept a customer.
