A question. What is the purpose of the hanger bar?

Haven't shot it yet, I need to proof it and make sure the barrel will stand the modification and work on the H&R frame, to do that I need to shoot it remotely and the range won't allow me to do that, so I have to wait until the snow goes away up in the mountains to shoot it there.

The hanger bar floats more of the barrel, Stratton Custom hanger bars are very popular TC Encores and Contenders.

Er, sorry for asking such a silly Bubba question, but couldn't you just take a four inch section of a shot gun barrel, split in half like a canoe, and put about 1/2 inch of JB Weld in it, and then just push it gently onto the underside of theRossi barrel, wipe or cut off the excess paste around the outer edge of the split piece, and then just let it set up for two days?

Wouldn't that give you a solid hanger you could tap a hole in, to mount the forearm?

Mannyrock: I think that is a quite plausible application. I think that the answer to the split barrel would be to weld a couple of short (5/16ths or 3/8ths in) little barrels or nuts that are threaded, to the split piece BEFORE using the JB weld. Or use industrial grade Devcon resin. Either one would probably be more than adequate if used full length. Also wonder about high strength Loc-Tite ? Welding on the 3/8ths or 1/2 barrel (should we call it a band?) Band would not affect the structural integrity of the barrel itself. Somewhere I have a 10 inch section that I cut off of a 28" win 1300 pump gun for a friend and I just happen to have an H&R 12gauge single shot that has a broken mounting stud. this may be the simple answer for me to repair it, providing that I can find that piece of barrel

. also, I could try the same style of hanger system for it similar to the one that Tim is using (without double doveing as I don't have a mill--just letting the nuts or little barrels that are threaded act as my "doves"). I would be able to put the half part just in front of the chamber. OR, I could use a two inch section with one barrel or nut to replace the mounting stud that was broken. right now the forearm is being held on with two bands of black self-vulcanizing double wrapped and tightly stretched electrical tape. If that is holding it in place as well as it is, I'm a'thinkin that Devcon or Loc-Tite will surely do the job on the 12ga. Now on a hard recoiling rifle ------Hmmm, don't really know.

There are lots of ways to bubba a barrel to work, there have been members here that epoxied their home made stub barrels together, whatever works.

There's varying degrees of bubbaing, epoxy is classified in advanced bubbaing, only for the more skilled bubbas, it has two parts, ya know!

'Redneck' Epoxy:
A cutoff beer can for a mixing container
Fill 1/3 full of laquer thinner (available from the stock car guy down the road)
On the way back walk the ditch to pick up styrofoam cups, etc.
Bust up the cups into small chunks and start mixing them into the LT, they will disolve in
Add and mix until you get the consistency you need
BTW, smokin' over the LT is not recommended but in some circles seems to be mandatory

, as well you know that the baillin' wire will scratch the finish if you don't use the duck tape first!!! In "advanced Bubbaing 101" they tell you the new way is to use self bonding rubber electrical tape so as not to leave the sticky stuff on the barrel before you use the baillin" wire, So there.

I have seen people during deer gun season with duct tape and/or bailin' wire on the stocks of old break openin' shotguns. IF it works and helps put meat on the table that is great in my book. I have also seen these same "repaired" guns for sale at a local gun show with a $100 asking price. If I had been at the show by myself I might have bought one for a "wall hanger" but my hunting buddy was with me and he would have never let me live it down.

My old model 48 full choke came complete with wire and tape. Wire on the stock which was broken, and tape on the fore end which would fall off. For $35.00 I ain't complaining. It looks and shoots great now.

Tim, however is starting a new trend. We can have Handi Wizards, Handi Revelations, Handi Rugers....the sky is the limit. Of course Mr. Quick does his the right way and forgoes the duct tape.

Why so much? I imagine the Customs duties would not be very much so the rest are fees or special taxes of some kind?

That would be a Rossi Wizard, not a CVA, the Wizard 30-06 barrel worked fine on an SB2 frame with the one load I tried, the 7.62x39 barrel didn't come close to fitting on the same frame with the identical shim, makes me wonder how in the world they interchange on a Wizard!!

Not only did it not fit, they changed it to an extractor, 30-06 was an ejector. $:-\$

Check with Brian56, H&R did have some 7.62x39 accessory barrels in stock not too long ago.

Aw Tim you burst my bubble, I was getting all excited about ordering a 7.62x39 Wizard barrel for my SB2 framed .223 to have a poor man's 30/30. Do you know if the Wizard barrel is .311 or .308? I am assuming the H&R barrels are .308. I want to shoot cheap Russian .311 diameter rounds as well as surplus rounds or the barrel not wort it for me. Thanks allot for all your research!

The added cost is the DHS fees or something like that... adds $200 to a barrel, unless they bring in a whole bunch, and they don't seem to want to do that...
