Trapper Optics

I  recently purchased  a trapper .357 that is a real shooter.  I am not sure if I want to put  optics on this gun, but if I do, does anyone have any suggestions?

 I like a nice small, trim scope on such a handi Lil handi!!  ;D ;D

My preference is Leupold. IMHO, a 1x4 or a nice little 2.5 power would be the cats arse!!

Altough many like the Red-Dot types, to me they are too stubby to look good, but they do work.
I like the old Weaver 1" tube, 2.5 or 3X in rings as low as you can go; probably similar to the above recommended scope.

I have a little cheapo scope on one of mine that is really nice.  It's a compact scope that is short enough that I don't need to use the hammer extension.  Low magnification.  Lust an easy little optic for a Handi rifle.

  I'll go downstairs later and find the make and model.  I know it was a real cheapo.  Might be a Tasco.  I bought it because it suits it's purpose, not because it brought me any bragging rights.

I'd opt for a low power 20mm scope like the 2½x20 Weaver I had on my 38-55 Shorty before I decided my eyes like a bit more power for load work at the range, I plan on putting it back on before I hunt with it again to save a little weight, barrel is 18".

I have a Simmons Pro-Diamond shotgun scope on mine, I prefer the 4X fixed power. It is short, looks good, 28mm objective so ti is very bright, has 4" eye relief, the diamond makes for very fast target acquisition, also very inexpensive. My 10 year old grandson loves it. I have low power cast loads that are quieter than a std 22 LR and very accurate for squirrels.

+1 on the Simmons pro diamond I would recommend that spend a little extra and get the Master Series though.

I like the low power variable scopes like the Simmons 2-7x32 selling for about $59.95 for the handgun cartridge Trappers. They weigh less than 10 oz. I also use a nice 3X Leupold M8 scope on my shorty .500 S&W.

After reading so many endorsements of the Simmons Pro-Diamond shotgun scope in 4X, I ordered one this morning for my .44 Trapper. It went for $39.99 + shipping.
