OK.. got my new setup... Tikka Whitetail in 7mm Rem Mag with a Bushnell 3200 3-9x 50mm. It's awesome. Sighted in yesterday and with 140 gr Win Silvertips, 1.25" group of 3 at 200 yards. I have never shot that well before with a rifle. Always been able to group good enough to kill a deer, but mainly polka dots on paper.

However, I did notice the 150 gr had a little larger group... about 2.5". Anyone noticed that before as well? I know some rifles just handle different loads better. Just wondered if anyone else had the same experience.

I have a Sako in 7mm and found that for me (with my reloads) that the 150 gn is moa but the 140 gn is about 1.25.  This is with Nosler BT bullets.  Might be the gun, more likely the load. Maybe it affects your brain (perceived recoil) with the heavier bullet.  But ya gotta love those Tikka rifles.  Try some other manufacturers cartridges and see what happens.

Good shootin' Jingleman. I have a Tikka Whitetail Hunter in .280 Rem. with a Bushnell 3200 3-9x40. Just got it about two and a half months ago. My three shot group with factory 150 gr. Rem. core-lokt is .69 inches. I have not yet tried to reproduce that group size, been too busy chasing deer. You gotta love those Tikkas, man is that trigger ever nice. I've tried Barnes XLC 140 gr. bullets without any luck, I guess I'll load some 140 gr. Nosler BT's and give them a try.
So many guns, so little time.

I own several rifles, a few of which are Tikkas.  Like you said, some rifle just like some loads better than others.  In you case, it may be that either you gun doesn't like heavier bullets, or maybe it just doesn't like a particular kind of bullet.

In either case, I wouldn't worry about it.  Stick with what works best for you for your hunting application.

my tikka shoots 120gr V-Max in to .8 inches at 200yrds  and i have put one group with 140bt's into a half at 200 but 1 inch to 1.25 is more like the norm.

i had the same scope buy i down sized and put a leupold 3-9x40 tac on it.  its even better now.
Let the heavens decide.
