question- bait in cage traps freezing ??

how can i keep my bait in my cage traps from freezing---salt drys it out--need help-thanks

 Mike add a bit of propylene glycol to your bait. It is an anti freeze.

Use a dab of call lure to get the animal up to the cage and at that distance it doesn't make any difference if the bait is frozen as they will smell it anyway and the visibility and eye appeal of the bait is still there regardless.
Anyone who doesn't think any animal species can smell frozen bait, do a test by burying a chunk of frozen bait in the snow just about any place and see how long it takes for animals or birds to find it.

Asa is right.  You can bury a carcass in a field in fall and in winter  the canines or other furbearers will find it.   Years ago i would take my skinned skunk carcasses minus the skunk glands and bury in  fields in fall and  come winter with snow  covering also, the wolves, yotes and fox would find everyone.  One time the yotes dug down thru a four foot deep snow bank  to get to buried skunk.
