The HEB store in Lytle TX has a discount card which is same as cash but gives an 11 cent discount.  Bought gas for $2.98 this weekend.  Not sure if other HEB store do the same thing or not.

Here locally one of the stores runs a gas war regularly.
It dropped it's price from $3.27 to $2.85.

It sure makes some of the local gougers nervous.  ;D

Most of south central Kansas is in the 3.09-3.19 range. Funny thing is that I work in a town that has the regional refinery and this town's gas prices run 10-15 cents more than any other town in the area.

I'm seeing a huge spread between gas and diesel prices, like $3.20 for gas and $4.25 for diesel. Cannot be good for truckers. What's up with that? Usually the spread is smaller. Is it related to fuel oil for heating?

It's a sneaky way of gouging us all.
The truckers don't absorb the difference.
Price is passed right on to the store shelf.
I don't know why people don't scream as much about it.
I guess they just don't seem to understand.

What's sad is they've trained us to feel all giddy and warm all over when the price goes down to just a little over $3.00 and now that we've passed the $3 a gallon plateau, the next one is $4 etc. but for now, we still need to be convinced that we are now paying for cheap gas as long as it's not too much over $3 and sadly it's working.

Sorry for the rant, but this is coming from someone who years ago only paid .16 cents a gallon and $1.00 worth of gas would get you a weeks worth of cruising around.

Yeah and don't forget that if the obamanation had his way, we'd be paying much, much more.  Remember, his energy secretary said we should be paying somewhere around 8 bucks.

I've seen .16 cent gas. A dollar's worth of gas would get me two round trips to town and back home with no running around. Minimum wage was six bits an hour. When I got out of school gas was usually .25 cents but would drop to .17 or .18 cents when a gas war would break out. Minimum wage had made it to a buck an hour. I stayed broke then just like I do now.  :(

Gas is back down to 3.09 again, in other words, back to the price I originally posted as being alarming. It's still high, but the trend has been in the right direction. Not so sure about diesel, though. I wonder if gas is cheap at the expense of diesel prices.

good link

http://fuelgaugereport.opisnet.com/index.asp

Right now where I am at

Current Reg$3.406    Mid
$3.581 Premium
$3.703 diesel
$4.103

Year AgoReg $3.014Mid $3.242Premium $3.383diesel $3.340

'round here gas running about 30+ cents per gal higher than last year at this time.

How do they justify over 70 cent increase on diesel ? doesn't it take less costs to refine diesel ?
Diesel has gone nuts. I don't run my tractor all that often right now.

So now it is being reported that gasoline is being exported from the United States; there is a surplus here.  It would be interesting to know what U.S. gasoline sells for in whatever countries the gas is being exported to.

That was an interesting report. The flow is that we import a lot of oil, refine it, then sell the refined goods abroad where it fetches a higher price. That makes a lot of sense economically. It also says a lot about fuel use elsewhere. Now we're competing for something that has been mostly ours for five generations.

Forget foreign countries, gas in NC is $3.34 and it's $2.94 in SC. It's all about the taxes....literally. The sad part is NC is supposedly taxing our gas to pay for roads and SC's roads are better than ours. Seems the highway fund is a "slush fund" for our long line of Democrat governors.

$3.59 here at the local stations. $3.33 at the reservation. Big sign at the reservation. Says NO ETHANOL. The guy that runs the small motor repair shop here in town says ethanol is the best thing that ever happen to his business. :(
