Holoscope on my 7x30 super 14?
« on: December 15, 2003, 04:43:13 PM »
Currently have a 2.5x7 T/C with lighted reticle. Have one just like it on my 223 without the light. I don't  shoot over 100 yards with the 7x30 and have killed deer every season since I started three years ago. Giving serious to this scope. Give me your opinion and my feelings are not an issue. Thanks. :-)

Have one, seem's to handle the recoil of stiff big bore rounds. As long as it ain't used with T/C duo-rings it'll stay in place. But I must say I always heard good things about japanese optics but never had any until this scope, and I ain't too happy with the periferal(I'm sure that ain't spelled right) distortion. For $300 I expect a clear view , even around the edges.

here's my opinion, and that don't mean much.  the 7-30 waters just begs for a scope like you have mounted now. it's a nice flat shooting contender caliber, that can really reach out and take deer nicely. the scope helps make this possible. a holosight would really limit the 7-30's range.
i say, if you want a gun with a holosight mounted, add another barrel for short range shooting, and put the holosight on it. something in the straightwall case class, like 357max,41mag,44mag, etc. then you'd have all the bases covered. two(3 with the .223) nice outfits to choose from, depending on the area you are hunting.
sounds like a perfect excuse to add a barrel, instead of restrict one you already have setup. hows that? are your feelings hurt? :D
