mink trap
« on: December 18, 2010, 03:37:54 AM »
i was told i could use post hole diggers to bury  a piece of metal 6" stove pipe 36" long and in the bottom of the pipe put  the remains from a cleaned chicken. (guts/blood)  the mink can not climb metal so it can not get out and will hold more than one mink. anyone have any experience with this type of trap? then how do you get them out?cuz i aint putting my hand in there. ??? thanks for any help on this.

Illinois DNR laws & regs doesnt allow us to use stove pipe traps nor colony traps so I never used that method.

What if you replace the trap that has a mink in it with another trap, take the one with the mink back to your vehicle, and just gas it with the exhaust pipe? Problem solved and you're not getting bit.

Ron, never tried that one.Doubt if I ever will.Sounds like one of those things that may be alright to give a shot,if you have a lot of time to wait for it to work.

My guess is,it will attract more skunks, coon and possum, than it will mink. Also seems like a lot of work.If you give it a try--please keep us posted on the results.
