Head Space Contender
« on: December 25, 2002, 02:15:47 PM »
When I hold my contender up to the light I can see a gap between the frame and the barrel at the top section of the barrel.  What is the factory clearence.  The reason I ask, is that i read the way you size 6.5 TCU brass is to move the sizing die out until the contender is hard to close and then turn the die in 1/16 of a turn until the contender close easily.  No matter how far the die is out the contender closes easily. Thehead of the cartridge protrudes fror the barrel several 1000's. On rimmed barrels the heads are recessed.  Should the cartridge head protrude from the barrel and the pistol close easily??

You should read the information at:  http://www.bellmtcs.com/TOC.htm

There is a lot of good information related to your question there.

If I had a dollar for every time I wanted another Contender or Encore, I'd have about $855,627,452,918
