Your not the lone ranger buddy! I'm sitting here typing this watching the crap fall outside. I did get my snow blower back together yesterday after much loving care beating it with the maul. Still got something out of whack as the beaters now just turn when they want. Intermittenant I believe they call it?  It may truly be headed for the bone yard as this might be the last of the cobble jobs I can do to repair it. I had a machine shop fix the worn shaft that was the heart of my problem. There are very few parts still available for the old 1984 girl and I fear now it maybe worn pinion gears. There is no hope for that problem as I welded the main gear back together several years ago when I could not replace it.
Unfortunately My shovel on the other hand is still functional.

On another note I had the four wheel drive locked in yesteday to get to my beaver sets. Got stopped couple times by drifting in of my old tracks. Had to back up a bit and go again but got in fairly clean. No beaver this trip but one snapped 330. Can never know what causes that but most likely a muskrat the jaws miss. I'm not planning to check the traps again till Monday and if I have to chain up to get in, or walk? which is highly likely. All the traps are coming back out with me. I still have a dozen rat sets on the creek south of town. Don't plan to check those till tomorrow as it's not a high numbers area. Will decide as I go whether to pick those traps up or leave another day.

Don't ya Love "Winter In The Northland" and your just enough miles north of me yet to get it worse...

Dang Tom!
I knew you was getting worse than us but that sounds like it just plain sucks. I hope ya got a flare you can shoot up or a long distance life alert you can push. Ya start walking to the store and fall down. They might not find ya till spring or the coyotes dig ya out to chew on. I went out and got most the snow from over night cleaned up. Good thing too as it was rained on this morning so the wet stuff that sticks and then freezes hard. It's supposed to get colder and you know how that stuff is once it freezes in place. Ten times the work to move if ya can move it at all. It's snowing now harder than when I was out shoveling and the weather service just put us under and (Official Blizzard Warning). Whopp-tea-do. I'm still going to drive the 10 blocks to the bar tonight for Karaoke. Even if I have to take the old Dakota and lock in the 4 wheel. Unless of course Rose the DJ can't make it the 6 miles cross town in her toyota 4X4.

I wish I'd taken a few of them coon out of the freezer to scrap. Hunker down in the basemnt turn on the radio and get greasy.

Your problem is solved with a SNOWBLOWER!! About 90 % of the snow that fell here got blown to Iowa. The temperature is dropping real fast.I'm off to another fun filled night of work.Bill
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!

Tom can you hear us! Do we need to bring a long pole and poke through the drifts for ya!

I woke up this morning to a snow mess that I know is less than Tom has to deal with. But trust me it's not pretty out side unless your one of them snow nuts. Not the best time for the snow blower to be balkin, o-well I went many years without one. But now like always it will get cold and the wind is really blowing. Going to be sub zero in short order.

Biggest problem I got is getting out and pulling my rat sets on the creek today, so I don't loose my traps. The traps aren't on stakes but wire to flood bags with rocks in them. I have just  small ribbons tied on the bank to mark them. I"m pretty sure that most or all the ribbons will be snowed under. Only good thing is the area is small and I only have 12 traps there. So I should be able to find them without to much memory work.
If you have followed my whinning post you know I drown my good digital camera duck hunting. I dug out my old digital which I realize now doesn't take near as nice a pictures as my new one did. It also is murder on batteries eating 4 -AAs in a short time. But at least it's working and I'll try to take some pictures at the creek today. I'm sure it's going to look like a post card till I track it up.
If I can get a couple decent pictures you southern boys can see what kinda conditions we deal with.

It's going to take some time to shovel out the 4ft or more pile on the end of the drive the plow pushed up during the night. Glad I'm on vacation and didn't have to go into work this morning with the guys. I'd have had to get up earlier just to get out the drive with the snow up to the top the hood on the old Dakota.  My daughter had to go into work this morning at 4am and my son at 5am. I didn't get any early morning come help calls. So I'm guessing they both got to work ok. My son has 4 wheel drive but my daughter drives a Saturn and it sets so dang low. But they was born and raised in these kinda conditions.

I'm rambling like always cause stopping means I got to put my boots on and go to work.
Guess I've reach that point.

Dang!

Mark--guess it ended up right around 2 feet of snow.all the shoveling I did yesterday, went for naught. Neighbor across the street went through my driveway with his plow, other neighbor hit the front walk with his snow blower. Need to shovel out to the driveway and see if I can --unbury the car.
Lee--my Lab wants nothing to do with any snow--over testicle deep--he doesn't spend much time dilly dallying.
