Who makes recoil pads for walnut G2 carbine buttstock?
« on: December 08, 2010, 03:25:28 PM »
I would like to replace the recoil pad on the walnut butstock of my G2 Contender. Does anyone make a soft pre-fit, bolt-on pad I can buy?

I couldn't find one but probably didn't look hard enough.  I ended up modding the stock T/C pad.  I pulled it off and used an xacto knife to remove some of the angled rubber support pieces on each end to make it softer.  Ended up taking more than half of them out.  Much softer now.  Used a dremel with a sanding attachment on it to try to smooth out the inside where the cuts were.  Once I shoot it I'll know if it works or if I need to take more out.  Would have been much easier with a scroll saw but don't have one of those.

I've thought about one of the new Remington pads, they are crazy soft, but haven't checked dimensions on them to see if they are big enough.  Have read that they can be ground to fit and it works better if you put them in the freezer first.
