Has anyone had or have a Boyds rifle stock and what do you think of them?

You will find that many of our members have not only heard of Boyd stocks, but also use them.  To my understanding, these are mostly, if not solely, laminated wood stocks.  I, on the other hand, mostly prefer true synthetic stocks like that of McMillan and HS Precision.

I do believe, however, that the laminated stocks that are on the Remington LSS are made by Boyds.

I do have a Boyd's JRS classic but all I can really tell you for now is that it is a good looking stock and seems to be well made.
The main thing I can tell you is that I wish my new 35 Whelen AI rifle was finished and the stock was bolted to it instead of in the box in the trunk of my car.  :grin: It does look like the recoil pad may be a little to thin for the 35 so I will probably replace it but it should work fine for something in the 30/06 and under class.

I have a Boyd's stock on my Win. M70. I got the grey laminated stock. They do have walnut stocks. My stock is a drop in finished JRS. The inletting was a little off and needed a little wood removed. I feel it was a good buy for the money. I had a gunsmith bed the action and it shoots good. Laminated stocks are a little on the heavy side compared to walnut or synthetic stocks. I wanted more weight for stability and I got what I wanted.
