#1 ,what state are you in--regulations vary from state to state.A #1 3/4 is the smallest trap you should use for yote--it will also work nicely on fox.
Books are an excellent way to learn. Are you planning on just land trapping, or are you considering water trapping also?

One thing your friend was right about--#1 is not a fox trap, you will cause yourself way to many problems if you use them.

yea i talked to him today i think the 1s are going on the wall at camp ill wait till after the hunting is done then ill look into the 13/4 or 2s he said that off the top of his head we have a 6 1/4 restriction what kind of traps do i want i want a good trap i looked at some sterling and i think it was montanna not sure im going to get a fox yote book off of him in the morning and maybe a disk to watch not sure its sposed to rain all day so maybe we wont meet up maybe after i get back from the hunt i also looked at the beefer kits my buddy still says sleepy creek and they dont need beefed up what do you or the rest of the trappers use for fox or yote traps i think this will be fun and good for my health i just cant seem to get out and walk around the block cant see me in the mall but the woods that will work it makes it more interesting to me to watch the wild life listen to the woods and enjoy nature and if i put traps out i will feel like i have to go check the traps doc says i need to walk more so ill trap for exersize  ;D

I sell mainly Dukes, also a few montanas. Most 1 3/4s that are new, should be plenty strong--though some guys up grade to music wire springs, while still others 4 coil.
You will also want a trowel, sifter, gloves, bait ,lure, stakes.
You will never go wrong in reading all you can.
 Good luck and have fun.
