Calibers for an SB1 rifle
« on: November 19, 2010, 11:07:32 AM »
I'm new here so sorry if this is an old question but couldn't find an answer is "search".

I've got a new SB1-35T, .357 Trapper.  Can this be reamed to 357 Max?

Also, what other barrels/calibers is the SB1 rifle receiver suitable for?

Thanks

My 45 colt carbine sits on topper wood and frame. Red dot 1" scope. Shoot Ruger level loads under a 300g FNGC bullet. MOD at 100y. Head of woodchuck at 50. A little stiff, but no blood. I love that gun.

The 357 mag/max, 44mag, 22jet, 30-30, 45-70 all used to be on the iron frames. It won't hurt a thing by maxing your 357... just dont go crazy with loads. If you put a 45-70 barrel on an SB1 frame stick to trapdoor loads.
I've got 22hornet, 32-20, 357mag on SB1 frames and they all shoot great.

Congrats on the new Trapper! H&R will only fit  357 and 44 mags as well as standard shotgun barrels to it as well as the 45/410 combination barrel. You can fit low pressure barrels to it yourself tho, see the FAQs.  ;)

Thanks to all.  I was hoping to hear something like this.  Especially interested in the 45 70.
