Help! Contender G1 Rhynite Grip won't fit??

Heip please.  I purchased a Contender Rhynite grip and it won't fit my G1 Contender frame because the grip is too narrow to go over the frame.  I have Googled Contender grip every way I can think of and can't find anything mentioning this.  I did a search on this forum and found it mention in 2004 by "Rpbader" but no conclusion other than speculation it was a mispackaged G2 grip.  This is not a G2 grip, G2 grip is slanted/angled more.  I have an Encore and it's not an Encore grip.  Does anyone know of this?  Did bad grips get out of factory?  A fix like fitting it?  Here are pictures of  the grip and my Contender.  The pass word to see Pictures on Photobucket is:  Contender

Being a custom grip maker I will say that the Contender and the G2 are angled the same. The difference is the location of the through bolt hole. The Contender is more in the center of the inlet. The G2 is more to the top of the inlet.

I once had a rhynite grip that I had to pull the wings apart to get it to slip on the frame.

Yes, looked at your pics and it appears to be a contender. Looks also all you need to do is pry the wings out and it should slide onto the frame.

Thanks Dave, I will try that.  It just seemed that the material was too hard to pry apart and I was afraid of it damaging the finish on my frame.  I may do some of both. I thought it best to ask before I just jumped in and messed it up or that there might be a special trick to get it to go on.  I have admired some of your work on SP.

Warm it up some with a hair dryer and maybe that'll ease things.
