Bloodied the 444
« on: November 02, 2010, 03:05:14 PM »
My son did anyway.  Nice doe at about 50 yds.  She looked around a tree and pegged him in his climber.  She snorted and stomped her foot, so he shot her between the eyes.  Made for a really short tracking job. His quote was "I can hit an apple at 100 yds, I should be able to hit a deer's head".   He was using the Hornady LE ammo, it surgically removed about half her noggin.  Ugly, but effective.

Congrats to him, I've killed a couple of those deer that you needed to put a sack over their head for a good pic!!  :o ;D

Good for the kid ;D ;D

I did one like that a couple of years ago.  She wandered in under an apple tree about 80 yards away.  I whistled, she looked up and I shot her between the eyes.  Yeah, it wasn't a head to take a picture of, but I didn't have to track her and I had a nice clean body cavity.

That is why I got the 45-70, but so far, no dice.  Guess I will have to find another 444 for myself.  Got all that brass and stuff.
