.44 Mag barrel on a SB1 survivor frame?
« on: October 28, 2010, 02:16:49 PM »
Hey guys,

Can I put a .357 mag or .44 mag barrel on my 12 gauge SB1 Survivor frame? I have the synthetic pistol-grip stock set with the "survival" forearm.
My avatar is pretty much what I look like out in the woods - except I am not a "chick" in any sense of the word.

If you fit it properly. Factory 357 and 44 mags come on SB1 frames right from the factory,  have since 2008, look at the model numbers. They'll also fit those accessory  barrels to SB1 frames made since 1987.

My main concern was the forearm. I wasn't sure if the Survivor had a different forearm screw than the standard shotguns.

Wish I could easily get my hands on a .44 mag barrel here in Canada. Some setup like this would be just the thing for my hunting spot. Half of it is buckshot-only, so I often end up carrying both a rifle and a shotgun in, and using whichever is legal for that territory. It would be nice to only have to carry a spare barrel.

They're all the same ¼-20 thread, the Survivor just has a knobbed screw which can be used on any H&R forend.

OK.

My H&R shotguns were both older models without the screw so I wasn't sure . ..

All modern H&Rs use a ¼-20 threaded forend stud,  H&R Inc(bankrupt 1986) single shot firearms prior to 1987 used ¼-20, ¼-28 or snap on.
