« on: October 25, 2010, 05:44:37 PM »
Well it has been so long since I have been on here because I have been doin so hardcore trout fishing. Now that its over time to switch over to hunting. Last Saturday ii shot a doe wit a 243 and its my 4th deer I have shoot with it and I want to get a 243 barrel open sights for my reciever. Are they still producing one and witch one woujld be the best.
Thanks

Posted yesterday by Brian56 who works for H&R in Ilion.....

The H&R barrel program is still very strong, we now have most of the barrels in stock. we do not make a 7.35mm Italian. just 35 wheelen & 35 Rem. we now also have 222 barrels available.
                                                                                                              Brian @ Remington repair:

The only 243Win barrel listed on the acc barrel list that comes with sights in the SY5, whether they still offer it is another question tho, they were doing away with most barrels with sights and offering them only with scope rails, the list hasn't been updated for a while, so it's best to just call and see what they say.

Have your barrel drilled and tapped for the std. type Williams sights, 2 holes for the rear. one for the front.
But if you want the option of using your scope on it when thus equiped you will have to remove/reinstall the scope rail (yep, only those three little screws, unless you also bedded the rail on) as required.
Then, when another barrel shows up, likely for scope rail only, get it and you are good to go.
