Want to rebarrel to .260 - Have a few questions
« on: October 20, 2010, 02:52:23 AM »
I have a .243 handi barrel that I am thinking of turning into a .260.  For those that have done something similar, where is a good place to have the work done and approximately how much did it cost?  Is the .243 able to be made into a .260 or will I need to start with a different barrel?  I do not currently handload now but am planning on it in the future.  What twist rate should a .260 have?  I have seen 1 in 8 and 1 in 9 but have not done enough research yet to determine which would be better.  I just brainstormed this idea the other day but I already have an XS7Y .243 so this barrel now became a good choice for a project.  Thanks for any help.

Site sponsor Wayne York did mine and several others, cost will be about $325 for the rebore and neck ream, he's hunting right now, won't be home until early November, plan on about a 3-6 month wait once he gets your barrel, mine's a 1:8" twist in a 20" Superlight barrel.
