Here's a stupid question that I should have done a search on

The old contender frames would take the rifle barrels that were made to fit them.  Are the Encore pistol frame and the rifle frame the same or different.  I would like to have just one frame and different stocks and barrels.  I know that the law on short barrels and rifle stocks gets in the way but I'm not planning anything stupid.  Right now spending another $600 bucks us out of the question.

The only thing different between the "rifle" encore and the "pistol" encore frames is simply letters on a box.  If you buy just a frame it usually comes with the stocks to suit the "letters" on the box, i.e. "rifle" come with rifle stocks, and "pistol" pistol stocks.  The barrels are interchangeable.  I plan on doing EXACTLY what you are.  Buy one frame and purchase barrels to my hearts content.

I was hoping that was the case.  My son and I have an encore on order through one of his friends who has an FFL.  We started with an Encore Rifle in 22-250.  Now that I know I can change out stuff, I'm much happier.
