Tikka T3
« on: December 07, 2003, 09:56:38 AM »
Hello everyone  :D

My dad is looking for a new rifle and is thinking about a Tikka.  We looked at a Tikka T3 Blue/Synthetic in 30-06 for $429.  He liked it quite a bit, but he isnt real familiar with Tikka.

Does anyone have anything bad to say about them? Anything they dont like?  Would you reccomend this gun?

Thanks

Scott

Scott,
Just do a search for Tikka and see all the general comments.......most highly praised rifle in recent history!

The T3 is a good gun but really nothing was improved over the whitetail hunter. The T3 represents Beretta's way of reintroducing Tikka to the U.S. Stoeger, the previous importer, did not have the marketing muscle that Beretta does. So they created a new stock and cheapened the gun a bit by incorporating a 1 size fits all action.
The gun is really not that much different than the whitetail except the stock.
If he wants a  whitetail, I have one for sale in the classifieds with the best mounts/rings(100$ price) you can put on a tikka thrown in. The yare much better than the cheapo mounts the T3's come with.

if you dont like a light rifle that can shot MOA then dont buy the tikka.  from what i can under stand the rings that come with them are not every good.  in canada they dont come with the rings for some reason but a set of weaver bases and burris z rings are the ticket.

i like the t3 that is in the safe but i like my whitetail deluxe more.
Let the heavens decide.

I use Warne Rings on my Tikkas - and they are great!

As for the rifle itself, I don't own the newer T3, but I do own three of  Whitetail Hunters and tell you without hesitation that I will NEVER sell them!  That's how good they are!
