Need Help with Remington 760
« on: December 07, 2003, 01:33:44 AM »
I need a new barrel for my .270 remington model 760 gamemaster.  Where could i get a good deal on a good barrel?  I love this gun and trading it is not an option.  Anyway, I would appreciate any help.

Well, that's the thing.   I didn't do anything, the previous owner never cleaned this rifle, I promise you they didn't.  In all, I'd say the barrel is 90% there.  There is some pitting between the rifling, but none on it.   It took me an hour of cleaning just to get the bore acceptable to my standards.  I'm gonna use this barrel as long as accuracy and safety permit.  However, this rifle belongs in the family and will not be sold.  I like the action and plan on buying another is .243.  I was seeing if you guys can get me on the right foot.   Thanx for any input in this matter.

You ought to call around to local gunsmiths to see if any of them have the hoppe's foul out II to remove build up that would preserve the heirloom for the rest of the family but II have seen the barrel for sale at sites listed good luck :D

I have heard of some people having good luck contacting Remington for just such a situation. Even though the rifle is an outdated model, they may have extra barrels in stock or it may even be capable of using the 7600 barrels.
