Hey there Bayrunner,
Not sure if you are still out there, but watch out for the bad hooks if you are into making your own jigs.
I have been buying jigs from Jimmy, who lives down on the North Fork of the Clearwater River here in Ol'Ideeehoo.
Jimmy's jigs are sharp as they come, and the wire is up to the stress of our "B" run Steelhead which make it into the 20lb range. The average being more like 12 - 14lbs.
Don't know much about making the jigs and it has been years since I tied flies, but I know Jimmy has done his home work on finding good hooks.
Ol'Jimmy is a bit of local color, but having a fish cleaning station at his house keeps him up on the conditions/catch/whats working/and where on the North Fork. and parts of the surrounding main Clearwater. He is a good place to call if a person is concerned about a to go or not to go desision before making the hour drive to the North Fork.
The Steelhead are headed our way, and it appears that it will be a run totaling something over the ten year average. Hope so!
Hunting is almost on us here, but for me that is mostly a meat thing so fishing this winter is something I am looking forward to.
Keep em coming!
