Have you taken a deer or hog with 230gr. +P 45acp ammo?

No. But I have taken a few deer with 200 gr cast SWC and 7 grs Unique in the 45 ACP 1911A1 Colt made for WWII.  ;D 50 yards and closer it will drill a 45 cal hole through the lungs and they run off 50 or so yards and drop dead. The 230+P HP should do the same. Don't know about hogs. The only hogs I have killed were domestic and a 22 LR between the eyes and then slit their throat did them in.

Broadside shot through (t&t) a doe at about 40 yds using a 230 gn soft nose flat point over 7.2 of Unique; hole going in and a hole going out, ran about 25 yds and piled up.

Hogs - javelina and lots of them; same load, throung the shoulders and they are drt.

I have killed several hogs and deer with my Beretta CX4 Storm. This, with using the Hornady 230gr XTP +P's.(#9096) They are advertised at 950fps(unknown what bbl length was used) but coming outta the Beretta's 16" I have chrono'ed them at 1015fps.

I have put one of these thru a 200lb sow at 20yds. Cut a rib going in and shattered the offside shoulder coming out. It jelled both lungs. She went 30yds and piled up.

The Hornady XTP's are a tough bullet and the 45ACP at +P velocities seems to be the perfect speed. ---SAWMAN

I shot a couple deer (black tails) with the 200 gr Lyman 452460 over 7.5 gr of Unique out of a Series 70 Gvm't Mdl.  They ran 1020 fps.  Penetration was through & through on heart/ling/shoulder shots.  Deer ran 20 -30 yards +/- and died.  I also shot several mulies with the old Speer FAT 200 gr HP over the same 7.5 gr Unique for 1020 fps.  Also through & through but with much more internal damage and deer seldom moved but a few steps.  The Speer lawman factory load at 890 fps performed fairly well and I did recover one bullet in an offside shoulder which showed excellent expansion.  I currently use the 185 XTP with a +P load of Blue Dot for 1100 fps.  I have shot one deer with it and she died after 2 steps.  Bullet went behind onside leg angling forward through the heart/lungs and offside shoulder.  Lungs and top of heart were mush.

I took a smallish deer some years ago with my Kimber Custom Compact (4" barrel) using 230 gr. Remington Golden Saber (factory load).  The deer was broadside and about 30 yards away.  The bullet entered low in the chest cavity (actually punching a hole through the heart).  Like some other deer which I've heart shot, this deer did a dance on its hind legs for a brief time and keeled over quite dead.  I did not, however, discover an exit hole!
