« on: December 06, 2003, 05:17:10 PM »
Doe's anyone know the quality of the 3-9X50 banner.
It would be going on a mauser 7x57 (I.E 8mm.)
I need an inexpensive scope that will hold up.
Failure is not an option

Many years back I put a Banner handgun scope on a .357 Mag. Ruger Blackhawk.  It didn't take too many rounds before the reticle started twisting around.  To Bushnell's credit, they did fix it.  Then it did it again!

I believe I have three of them.  A 4X, a Standard 3x9, and a 3x9 w/RangeMaster feature.  I took a real hard fall on a steep, ice covered hillside.  I bent the top turret, and broke the RangeMaster feature.  I packed up the scope and sent it to Busnell.  They sent it back fully repaired with a few goodies in the box.

Outstanding service.  They did not charge me a dime.  I have used them without problems in -20 degree tempatures without a problem.  On a very cold, and wet Colorado hunt there was no fogging problem.  I had an early Weaver K4 that had all kinds of wet weather problems.

The Bushnell Banner line is much changed and improved since the early days of that product line when it was the absolute bottom of the Bushnell scope line.

The models I've tested have proven entirely satisfactory. I'd not be hesitant to use one on the rifle mentioned. Yes the Trophy line is a step up and is some better but the Banner should do fine for your use.
