Christmas present for yourself
« on: December 06, 2003, 07:45:16 AM »
Hey guys. Christmas time is usually buying for family and friends but I usually try to pick a present out for myself. This year I bought a 35p chrony. I've been putten it off for a long time. But thatÂ’s what I got myself.

Have any of you picked something out for yourself? What did ya choose?

Merry Christmas.
Good luck and be safe,
Scott

hopefully I'll get a good part of the day sitting in my old rocking chair with a grandkid on each knee.Just remembering the good times with the family is almost to much for an old coot.  jhI was thinking about selling some of my "treasures" but can't decide which ones to part with.
must be an old age thing!

Usually, I also do the same.  one yr "Santa" brought me a Benelli:wink:  While it's not exactly a Christmas gift, my year-end bonus together with unused vacation/sick pay will be used for one or 2 new items in the coming months.  One will likely be a Ruger Super Single-Six Hunter while the other is yet to be determined.   proberly wait to see the results from SHOT '04.

I told my wife that I 'needed' a couple boxes of bullets and a new knife. We'll see what happens. I just bought a Nikon scope for my Omega a couple months ago. It shoots great. That's good enough for me.

CHRISTmas for you
« Reply #4 on: December 07, 2003, 12:36:32 PM »
I always got in trouble with the wife as I would mention somthing I was in need of, and then go get it. Lo and behold that was on the CHRISTmas list. They could not understand that coverals for deer hunting are needed before CHRISTmas. Now with new wife (6yrs) buy yourself a CHRISTmas present early, when you need it. I bought a Marlin 1894p a few weeks ago and announced it was my gift to my self, went over fine. I can't wait for my next b-day(can't believe I said that) to try it out again.
Happy Holidays

Well, I can say, every year I do the same. My problem is though, the "toy" I want I burn into my wifes head and when I end up getting it, she gets mad cause she wanted to buy it for me. Ohh well. This year I bought myself a Mossburg 500 and put the old 500 (30 years old or so) in official retirement.

With a new Chevy Siverado 4x4, 4 new handguns, and a new Yamaha Kodiak since last May, I think I'll just buy for family and friends this month.

I have enough new toys to get me through January, anyway, but my birthday is in Feb, sooo.......

Maybe a new Marlin guide gun, or a Shilen barrel in .17 Rem.....

  :D

This will be the first yeat that I have bought my own gift.  A sbhh .44 and I am going to top it off with a Nikon 2.5x8 should make a nice combo.   And the wife had no complaints.

2)  CED millinium chronograph

3)  Safari sticks  from ?????  Brain Fart can't remember the company name for some reason but the family knows so they can order it,

4)  The ROCK shooting rest for my pistol for the range

5) The bags for the rock for the shooting range

6)  Some shooting hunting saltwater fishing books for the spare time.

I can't wait for X mas to play with my toys thats if I get any of them.

I bought a Freedom Arms Model 97 in 41 Mag, 5 1/2" barrel. And as a bonus, Freedom had it in stock, so I only waited 8 days to get it.

Christmas Gift

I usually buy myself a present too, except this year I am getting a set of twins.  They ought to be here sometime between Christmas and January.  They have been on backorder for 8.5 months now, but should be here soon.  No, don't send me any "when is the big firearms & outdoor equipment sale" e-mails.  Decided to keep all the guns & stuff.

Seriously though, this year I think I will settle for my range fees and call it quits with that!

Possibly a wild boar hunt. I know this will sound odd but I pretty much have all I want. Depending on availability, I would like to go to this preserve and take a nice boar with my muzzleloading handgun. I think that would be a real fun hunt. In addition, I am in the mood to make some sausage. I would save the backstrap and tenderloin. The rest of the animal would get ground up into sausage. That meat grinder/sausage maker is a really neat toy.

my own present?
« Reply #14 on: December 11, 2003, 11:31:49 AM »
I got the Ruger Bisley 45 for myself along with 2 Savage 219s, a 97 Winchester in 16 gauge, a S&W 27 a couple of scopes a Beretta 302 and a Savage 99 in 308 all this year. Some were trades and all were very good deals ( a standard excuse ) This year my Christmas present will be watching my 12 year old son open an early left hand 870 that I found a vent rib barrel for. I will take him up on the hill to shoot a round of skeet if the weather cooperates. This is just a hunting gun but he is a lefty and it is the first of it's type, he is bothered by the empties flying out of the right hand 28 ga. 1100 he has been shooting. It will bring me back to my first gun, an Ithaca 37, more than 30 years ago. How many of you got your first gun for Christmas and what was it? Shotgunner

Shotgunner-I recieved a Daisy BB gun on the Christmas morning of 1967.
It taught me that if I positioned my feet 40degrees away from the line of the barrel, and leaned back just a bit to let my upper body weight rest on my spine, I could sometimes hit what I was aiming at!

This was a very valuble experince and I was more than prepared when I changed to the airrifle, .22, Centerfire's and muzzle loaders.

Didn't even shoot my eye out!  :-D

No shooting stuff, but I did get some dental work that I've been needing.  It's nice to have that out of the way.
