Rem 700 Date Codes?

Anyone have a source to help me determine the mfg date for a Rem 700 rifle I have based on the serial number?  I'm just trying to learn a little more about it.  Its a 300 Wby Mag, so I'm sure that narrows it down a bit already, but I'm not sure when they started making this caliber in the 700 to start with.

Remington Year of Manufacture Codes maybe found on the barrel of your Remington rifle [or shotgun] on the left side, just forward of the receiver; the first letter of the Code is the month of manufacture, followed by one or two letters which are the year of manufacture. For shotguns with removable barrels, the code will be valid for the manufacture of the barrel; maybe for the receiver, as barrels do get switched around.

According to the "Blue Book of Gun Values", the coding continues as follows:

Month Codes: [first letter]
B - L - A - C - K - P - O - W - D - E - R - X
1 - 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 - 9 - 10 - 11 - 12

* the years 1943 though 1953 had double letters: ie, MM = 1943

As maybe seen, the year code letters duplicate; some knowledge of when the model was introduced should resolve the actual year of manufacture.

...now that I think about it.

From the look of it, I believe that this rifle has been rebarreled, so I was hoping to go off of the the RECEIVER's serial number which is:

C6473xxx

The barrel is marked near the receiver with:

A bold verison of a  "V"  not really like other letters - seems like a proof mark.  Then:

XJ  28


On the top of the barrel it is marked:

RJW  LW

300 Wea Mag
