7mm-08 Browning Micro ammo.
« on: September 12, 2010, 03:14:41 PM »
I have a Browning Micro Hunter in 7mm-08 that I have shot some Remington Express 140 grain PSP factory ammo out of so far. The groups were in my opinion pretty poor at around 2 + " at 100.  Does anyone have one of these that groups some brand of factory ammo real well.
Ammo is hard to find and expensive at that; so any tips or advice would be great. I don't handload but would still be interested in what shoots well in the same rifle.

every gun is differnt. the only way your going to find what your gun likes is to keep buying ammo and trying it.

Never had one of the Brownings but have several Remington Model 700s and Model Sevens in 7-08. The original one which is now my wife's never shot anything much better than 1.5" to 2" at 100 yards but never missed or required a second shot on game with three of us hunting with it in many states. I figured that was just the best it could do until I tried the same Hornady Light Mag ammo I use in my guns. That danged old rifle turned in sub inch three shot groups at 100 yards with it.

I've tried the light mag ammo in around 6-8 Remington M7s and M700s so far and it hasn't failed to deliver inch and less groups in one of them yet. It has become the only ammo I hunt with in a 7-08.

I am with Graybeard. I am shooting Hornady Light mag or superformance in 257 Roberts, 7x57, 7-08 and 270 right now. They all proform better than anything else that I have tried. I load for several rifles but it isnt necessary for these rifles because the hornady ammo shoots so well.

My wife hunts deer with the same rifle. It loves Win Ballistic Silvertips. I'd steal that rifle, but she'd kill me.

I agree each rifle is different. I shot win silver ballistic tips in 7-08 out of my rem 700. Best I ever got was 3 inch groups. Then shot the  fed NBT and am getting sub 1 inch groups. It's nothing new. Some rifles "love" certain ammo and other rifles like others. Also, I see some guys blazing away at the range with hot barrels and constantly adjusting their scopes. The first 3 shots out of the rifle tell you how the bullets will group.
