« on: September 08, 2010, 10:21:00 AM »
Hallo everybody,

my Name is Mike, I´m 44 Jears old and I live in Brandenburg, Germany. From a good Friend I´ve got his old Rifle. He bought it 1977 new from a German Riflemaker, Paul Gahles. This Man worked for the "Zeughaus-Hege", the German Importer for Harrington & Richardson Muzzleloaders. Look at the Pictures, he did a verry good Job and I will take good Care for this Masterpice.

Hunting with Muzzleloders is not allowed in the State Brandenburg, it´s also not so easy to get the Powder for it. I need to make a Licence to buy it and it´s only allowed to have one Kilogram at Home. Year´s ago it was so easy to buy the Stuff whats needed to make the Powder self at Home, but since 9.11 everything has changed. Anyway.

I have tested the Rifle today. 5 Shot´s at a Target 50 Meters away were going into a Pack of Cigarettes, I think that´s a verry good Result for ten Years without Practice  ;D

i feel for you guys overseas! we can buy all the powder yu can afford here, i gave 16$ a lb last week for it, but im afraid we are headed in the same direction as yuall.also sorry you cant hunt with such a fantastic firearm.compared to germany we are the final frontier but we are faceing in the future a colossal fight to keep our rights to hunt and shoot.

Hi Mike!
I'm just curious, what was the cost of the rifle?
All I can say is: Wow! What a beautiful piece of workmanship! The grain on the wood itself is fantastic, and to top it off, the rifle shoots!
Sorry I resurrected this post, but the photos were too good not to have everybody take a look at it.

My quandary, I personally, don't think I have enough Handi's but, I know I have more Handi's than I really need or should have.

Hallo Ranger,
my Friend said that he has payed about 1.800,- DM in this time. That was a hell of a lot of money in the mid-70. In 1980 my father bought a Sharps Carbine for less than 700,- Mark
