Older Handi Question for the Experts?
« on: August 22, 2010, 01:55:56 PM »
Was at a local gun show in Pa yesterday and ran across an older Mod 158 ( AH prefix ) profiled
receiver thin blueing but still in good(no rust dings) stock obviously been stripped but nice shape.
It had a decent looking blued barrel with sites (era type) and scope (2 piece) blocks obvious tho
that it wasn't a factory match. Locked up well and no wobble. The caliber was 22 Rem Jet. I had
the gentleman remove the tie so I could open the action and check it out. Nice chamber and bore
clean & sharp. I saw then what I haven't seen before. On the bottom of the barrel was a factory?
stamped 4 digit serial # That of course didn't match the frame. Is this normal of the time? Unusual?
How many years did they make the Jet? Is it of any substantial collectors value? I got him to a price
I could live with but too many Questions. The opportunity is still there. Any comment would be welcome

Looks like the M158 was available in Jet from '64-'75.
