help a fighter
« on: August 19, 2010, 05:23:03 PM »
Mods, if this would be put in a better place, please feel free.

My son is now 5 y.o. and since 6 months has been treated for cerebal palsy. This includes an experimental treatment at Duke University. He has had PT, OT and Speech therapy between 1-4 times a week, not including what we do with him at home. We have spent lord knows how much for his treatment. My current insurance is with BlueCross/BlueShield of Tennessee which in its infinite wisdom, is going against his therapists, doctors, and such groups as the national CP, mayo clinic, and such that recognize speech therapy is crucial for kids to maximize their potential. I have been stonewalled, and am now being the thorn in their side as best I can. If you are on facebook, please hit like and add whatever commments you think about insurance refusing to pay for a recognized and needed treatment. Thanks. Oh and if you want to friend with me, thats cool too.

and if any of you have ideas how to turn up the heat on this, I would be in your debt. Thanks again.

Don't do face book . I have 25 year old son with CP, he didn't speak until he was 6. Will argue with a Philadelphia lawyer now. to hell with insurance if they wont pay do it yourself or get it done.  no cost too great to help your son. God Bless and good luck!
