Heavy Barrel or Bull Barrel?

I just bought myself a new Encore with the blackpowder barrel, and I'm ready to buy my first centerfire barrel. I notice that Fox Ridge has "heavy" barrels, bull barrels, and tapered barrels. Can anyone tell me what the difference is between a bull barrel and a heavy barrel? How much heavier are they than a tapered barrel? Also, since I will primarily be using this barrel for deer hunting, which style would be best? Thanks for any advice you could give. :?

I agree with cknight98 on this one. The bull barrel is a bench rest barrel only - or a barrel that you always have a rest or bipod for. The critter can be really heavy. For bench rest its great. If your going to lug it around - as ck stated - the tapered barrel would be better.
My CT barrel is the heavy - but I only shoot off a bench and it also works great for that.

Full bull target barrel at one inch diameter to the muzzle.
Heavy Varmint taper to muzzle diameter of .850 inch.
Medium Varmint taper to muzzle diameter of .800 inch.
Light Varmint taper to muzzle diameter of .750 inch.
Heaver Sporter taper to muzzle diameter of .700 inch.
Medium Sporter taper to muzzle diameter of .650 inch.
Light Sporter taper to muzzle diameter of .600 inch.

I went thru the same dilemma.  I settled on a 24'' heavy barrel from Fox Ridge in 7mm08.  The balance point is just in front of the hinge - where I like to carry it.  I have syn stocks on mine but I picked up some walnut last weekend to make a thumbhole stock.  I only shot it 4 rounds to sight it in but I think it is going to be shooter.  Oh yea, I have a Burris 3x9 b-plex on it as different scopes will change the balance point.  They say allow 10 to 12 weeks but I rec'd mine in about 4 weeks.   Good luck.

just to clarify the bulls are .95 and boy do they shoot nice, got a Fox Ridge in 17 rem bull blue 26", just a great shooter. worth it. R
