yeah I'm tired of trying to click on something and a pop-up sends me somewhere else- gotta wait for a page to load up for a few moments before clicking or you get sent somewhere else


and are we all suppossed to talk like that?  the advertisers seem to think that we identify with those people hawking bows and trucks (chevy/gmc post bailouts, apparently they didn't research their target audience good enough!!!!)

Hay they help keep this site running.  I think of them as a minor annoyance, that can easily be over looked.  They only happen when you first log on, or open up.  The way I look at it if it is too much for you to handle, move to another site.  No one is forcing you to stay here and put up with it.   Rog

I wouldn't compare to porn but its getting more and more annoying. I've accidentally knocked myself all the way out of GB And Safari trying to click the ad off so I can read behind it - 3 times tonight. I don't mind the ad at the bottom, love looking at the top ad with the boat on the ramp - love looking at boats. But the talky one is TOO much and gets in the way.

I know they help pay the bills here but it doesn't help if readers are driven off.

I tried a couple pop up blockers and modified my security settings. Kinda like the old lady pressing every button on her remote when the TV gets static. With similar results.....lol

Do you guys watch TV? How do you handle the commercials emotionally? Do the 8 minute commercials on your TV send you even farther over the edge than the 10 second pop-ups? Do you call your TV service provider and complain about the commercials?
As soon as the pop-up appears I click on the X and it's gone. Sometimes I let it play thru, it just ain't no big deal. I am not that easily rattled.

I know the ads help pay the bills but because of them popping up all the time I don't come here near as much as I used to. It's like a a television channel with too many commercials, I don't watch it too much either.

Even my air isn't free since I'm supposed to be on oxygen 24-7 these days. I have a monthly bill for that also. Still it has gotten to where I can't do without the O2 so ya do what ya gotta do.

They are no big deal, and I have not been knocked off any thread I've been on when one pops up.  Just now the woman shooting the bow came up.  I'm typing and she said her thing and went off.  I did not hear what she said since I am plugged in to the radio.  Life is too short and precious to let something this minute bother you.  If you got high blood pressure you could let this kill you.  I don't want to loose any of you guys so get over it, and be happy.  Rog

Trying Opera right now. Formatting is a bit different, not off, just different. It asked to install macromedia Flash Player to view all the content. I declined. There is an Energizer ad at the bottom of the screen. We shall see.....

Opera works fine. Thanks. I switched back to IE to see if the ads were still there, and when I tried to ignore the ad and clicked on reply, it opened up the ad. Hmmmm.

Depending on your screen resolution the X might be off screen.  Try adjusting your res higher and you'll be able to fit more content (and the Close button) on your screen at once.

As to the ads themselves, they're a minor (but tolerable) annoyance, but comparing the bow-girl to porn?  That's just WAY off the mark.  She's female and attractive - that's about all that ad has in common with porn.
